Our neighborhood [Deerfield Plantation] is a laid-back, wonderfully wooded nature preserve. With over 400 acres and 80 families each with 5 acres, the neighborhood offers privacy, free of the hustle and bustle of more densely packed developments all within a few miles of all the amenities of a large city, Charlotte.

For a small town, Waxhaw has a surprisingly diverse restaurant scene. There is Ming Fu, an excellent Sushi and Asian food bistro next to the Harris Teeter. There is an ever-expanding Mexican restaurant, El Vallarta, that’s a big hit with everyone. Downtown and along Providence road there are excellent upscale options for dinner dates (Italian, soul food, etc.). Perhaps our most popular restaurant is Stacks. This is a homegrown establishment that offers excellent breakfast (all day) and lunch menus for all tastes.

My wife was not going to live in a community without a Harris Teeter and I wanted to be near a Lowes Home Improvement. Our location is within 2 miles of both. There is also a new Wal-Mart Market and Food Lion a short distance from the house.

We were drawn to this location because of its privacy, beautiful lot, and the opportunity to have an extensive organic garden. The property was previously a horse farm (and can be again, but we did not use it for that). With over 5 acres of wooded and cleared land, it was perfect for our intended purposes. There are out buildings that provide ample storage and ample garage options (3 two-car garage options).

Waxhaw is blessed with all the charm of a small town while being minutes from employment hubs and shopping destinations in south Charlotte (Blakeney, GetMedia-9.ashxBallantyne, Promenade and Arboretum). Waxhaw is also within 30 miles of downtown Charlotte with its sports, eating and entertainment amenities.

Waxhaw may be hard to pronounce but it is really a great place for a family to live. Cost of living is low and Waxhaw features a wide variety of places to worship (including a newly built Catholic Church right around the corner from the house), and there are many opportunities for families to participate in wholesome activities such as sports. Small town living does not mean boring.

If you are new to North Carolina, Waxhaw is located in the heart of the Piedmont. The Piedmont features peaceful and beautiful rolling hills, green graGetMedia-20.ashxss, and hardwood forests. North Carolina has the tallest mountains east of the Mississippi river and the world-renowned Outer Banks. Waxhaw is located within a few hours drive of the mountains and the beach.
